Surgical Information Specialist - FT varied

Under the direction of the Director of Perioperative Services, the Surgical Informatics Specialist leads the coordination, design, integration and implementation of systems related Perioperative information technology initiatives. A key focus of this role is to design, maintain and evaluate systems and support new computer related projects as they relate to Perioperative Services. This position focuses on the use of information technology to support, optimize and ensure safe and efficient patient care. This Surgical Informatics Specialist leads special projects and efforts particularly for the Surgical department and works closely end users to customize and continually improve clinical technology. The Surgical Informatics Specialist collaborates directly with IT personnel to ensure effective project design and implementations.

Education/Experience:
This position requires current NYS licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse.
BS Preferred
Two years Surgical Nursing experience.
Two years IT experience (Computer system design, implementation, administration, and or evaluation).

Skills/Abilities:
The ability to utilize computer applications (e.g. word processing, spreadsheets, and data base management) is required. Other required skills include strong interpersonal and written communication, problem solving, and the ability to organize multiple projects simultaneously, facilitate team meetings and teach in a classroom or clinical setting
