Company: The Home Depot Job ID: 62514 Position Title: Regional Associate Relations Manager Working Location: CA - Livermore Employment Status: Full-Time Required Experience: 7+ years Required Education: Bachelors Degree Travel Required: 25-50% Job Description: POSITION PURPOSE Establish and manage fair and consistent practices within the division with respect to the treatment of associates in all the terms and conditions of employment; position has responsibility for effectively providing associate relations support to the management teams of diverse and geographically spread locations. MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES Manages the Awareness Line process to ensure that cases are: properly disseminated for investigation; resolved consistent with company policy and legal requirements; and closed in a timely manner. Manages the timely and thorough investigation and response to associate concerns and complaints raised in Staff Action items (letters to corporate officers) and letters received directly from associates or others. Assists the Senior EEO Specialists as requested in investigating compliance issues raised in agency charges. Serves as a corporate representative in litigation matters by attending and assisting in depositions and mediations, etc. Serves as a resource and provides guidance to divisional officers, District Managers, Regional HR HR Directors, District HR Managers, store HR Managers, and Store Managers on policy interpretation and application. Provides support and guidance to division HR team on associate relations decisions regarding terminations, disciplinary matters, performance improvement plans, reductions in force, etc. Monitors the labor relations activity in the division and investigates and responds to union activity through the direction of the Atlanta SSC Associate Relations group and the division Associate Relations Director; help in the development of Union Vulnerability Index action plans and monitor their progress; implements union-free learning programs; manages issues involving organized labor and instructs business partners accordingly. Conducts OE and related interventions designed to promote team building. Performs trend analyses and reports on data associated with employment matters as well as on administrative agency charges. Recommends and conducts training for management on legal and employee relations matters. Works with Government Compliance Manager to address: AAP issues I-9 requirements; and other compliance-related issues in the division. Partners with Medical and Health Management. NATURE AND SCOPE No direct responsibility for supervising others. ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS Typically requires travel 25-50% of the time. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Must be eighteen years of age Must pass the Drug Test Must pass the Background Check Must pass pre-employment tests if applicable EDUCATION REQUIRED The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job. YEARS OF RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE - 7 PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Advanced degree in industrial relations, human resources or law. Retail experience, preferably big box. Multi-site experience. Four to six years of experience in human resources, industrial relations or employment law is preferred. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES Technical Expertise: extensive knowledge of labor and employment law particularly NLRA and pertinent civil rights laws including Title VII, ADA and FMLA; experience in managing union election campaigns and conducting/overseeing internal investigations.
