Acetylene Plant Operator/Backup Route Driver - Ankeny, IA
Airgas is the United States' largest distributor of industrial, medical, and specialty gases and related equipment, safety supplies and MRO products and services to industrial and commercial markets is seeking candidates for our Acetylene Plant Operator/backup route driver position at our Ankeny location.
Working with safety as the top priority, the Acetylene Plant Operator/backup route driver will perform any combination of following tasks on site in making or repackaging compressed acetylene gas: Loads and unloads or assists in the loading and unloading of cylinders on vehicles using hand trucks. Operate and safely maintain equipment for compressing acetylene gas into cylinders. This position will also fill in as a back up route driver when needed.
Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma or equivalent, the ability to perform work during prolonged standing up to 8 hours or more and to perform heavy work, routinely lifting 25 - 75 lbs., and occasionally lifting 76 to greater than 100 lbs. Class A CDL with hazmat endorsement and clean driving record is required. A demonstrated commitment to customer service is also a must. Knowledge of industrial and specialty gases a plus.
