Registered Nurse Operating Room York, PA The registered nurse is a member of the health care team responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating and coordinating the total care for patients. The registered nurse is self directed and responsible for the direct supervision of all professional and nonprofessional personnel delivering patient care to his or her assigned patients. The registered nurse has a broad knowledge base of the age specific needs of neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. As the primary healthcare provider, the nurse is responsible for the patients overall coordination and supervision of care primarily in the role as the circulator or non-sterile personnel in surgery. Informs OR and Anesthesia staffs and surgeons of any special needs of the patient prior to surgery for a good and safe patient outcome. Prioritizes patient care needs based on the registered nurse's professional judgment and knowledge base of the particular surgical procedure involved. Initiates and reviews the plan of care based on the patient assessment and the surgeon's needs for a safe patient outcome. Reviews all instrumentation, supplies, equipment, pretests all equipment prior to being used for a safes patient outcome. Manages and documents patient care rendered pre-intra and post surgery for a good and safe patient outcome. Evaluates and communicates effectiveness of surgical interventions to appropriate members of the health care team using the performance improvement process to enhance patient outcomes. Identifies and communicates to the Surgical Service Manager those areas in which improvement and change are necessary. Communicates effectiveness of perioperative intervention to the surgeon and other members of the health care team caring for the patient. Provides perioperative-nursing care that is consistent with standards for professional nursing practice as defined by the hospital, patient care policies, and national standards of practice Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing. Current clinical nursing experience preferred. Have knowledge and understanding of physical and emotional disease processes, clinical nursing skills and administration of medications. Current license to practice nursing in the state of Pennsylvania. Current CPR required. OR scrub and circulating expereince preferred. One year OR experience preferred.
