Delta Dental’s regional office in Mechanicsburg , Pa. , administers Delta Dental programs in Delaware , Maryland , New York , Pennsylvania , Washington , D.C. and West Virginia .

We are looking for an experienced Actuarial professional responsible for accurately analyzing dental experience. The statistical and data analyses support forecasting, reserving, fee development, regulatory requirements and financial management. The incumbent also mentors subordinate staff in the department and actively supports all internal and external customers to explain and support analyses and methodologies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Project future results based on historical data.
  • Develop complex analysis and review results for reasonableness.
  • Guide and mentor analysts.
  • Advise internal and external customers.
  • Prepare and present documents to support analysis to internal and external customers.
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.

CORE COMPETENCIES / KNOWLEDGE & SKILL REQUIREMENTS

• Strong presentation skills.

• Ability to respond to multiple tasks and leadership direction while balancing competing demands.

• A valid driver’s license, ability to travel and sustain company expenses for a period of one month. Ability to operate and maintain a personal car for company business in a proper, safe, and responsible manner.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & TRAINING REQUIRED

· A Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science or related field.

· Actuarial exam credits are preferred.

· Five or more years experience in applicable field.

· Experience with PC based database and analysis tools (i.e. Access, Excel, FoxPro, SQL).

· Regularly required to work standard office equipment (personal computer, photocopy machine, fax machine, etc.).

· Ability to work on a computer up to 7 hours a day.

· Regularly required to sit for long periods of time, and occasionally stand and walk.

· Regularly required to use hands to operate computer and other office equipment.

· Close vision required for computer usage.

· Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, climb and lift up to 25 pounds.
