POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direct supervision of the Director of Radiology, CT Technologist is responsible for the provision of CT and radiological services to patients according to the Physicians' orders. Provides for patient safety and high quality testing. Recognizes the purpose of employment is to prioritize the patient as number one and to provide quality care in the position of radiologic technologist. Performs examinations of patients of various ages from pediatric to geriatric. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Performs CT examinations of acceptable technical quality. 2. Performs reconstruction and special processing of CT exam data. 3. Insures proper administration of appropriate oral contrast material for indicated exams. 4. Performs routine, fluoroscopic, and portable radiographic procedures (to include surgical c-arm cases) of acceptable technical quality. 5. Insures patient safety and provides adequate radiation protection by continually complying with the Texas Regulations for Radiation Control. Applies principles of radiology safety in the performance of position responsibilities. 6. Performs a variety of clerical tasks to include; answering phones, scheduling patient appointments in Meditech System, fax patient reports to physician offices and perform other associated clerical duties. 7. Demonstrates outstanding customer service and displays appropriate behavior. 8. Performs other duties as assigned. EDUCATION REQUIRED AND/OR PREFERRED: REQUIRED: Graduate of an accredited or registered school of Radiology Technology. LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: REQUIRED: Current registration with ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) or registration eligible Certified by the Texas Department of Health (CMRT). EXPERIENCE REQUIRED OR PREFERRED: PREFERRED: Previous experience in hospital CT and Radiology environment preferred. SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES: Must be able to demonstrate skills in CT scanning in addition to routine radiography and must cover rotational call schedule for CT. Comprehensive knowledge of CT cross-sectional anatomy, positioning, radiographic techniques, and radiation protection concepts. Knowledge of radiographic physics. Ability to determine exposure factors to achieve optimum radiographic images with a minimum exposure to patients. Ability to plan work and complete assignments in a timely manner without close supervision.
