Job Description: The Postdoctoral Fellow must have the ability to design and perform laboratory or other technical procedures in complex scientific testing or research experiments at a high level of technical proficiency.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
Ability to research or abstract relevant literature about new or know technical
Procedures or research protocols.
Ability to design experiments to test a hypothesis made based on literature review and discussions with the principal investigator
Ability to isolate and culture cells.
Ability to use molecular techniques to establish gene expression vectors for proteins of interest and use gene transfer techniques to express such proteins in cultured cells.
Ability to use biochemical techniques to assess cell metabolism and activation of signaling pathways in chondrocytes
Ability to set-up independently and skillfully make finite measurements or complicated chemical or biological determinations.
Apply specific and complicated statistical tabular and other reliability measures in assisting with analysis and evaluation of the data collected
Maintain and submit documentation and notes of the various stages of the research results, any alterations to those techniques, and on the final results of the experiments for discussion with the investigator.
Ability to assist others working in the lab including graduate students and technicians.
Requirements:
Ph.D. degree or its equivalent in a relevant area of biological sciences with major research experience in the area of molecular biology and biochemistry. Must have good management skills. Good research skills to be able to design and perform experiments. Knowledge of necessary computer software in order to present and analyze data.
