Job Title: Senior Application Scientist-Systems Specialist Department: Automation SUMMARY Caliper Life Sciences has an exciting career opportunity for a senior-level applications scientist with lab automation, method development/programming, genomics and drug discovery experience. The successful individual will be a member of a cross-disciplinary team in support of the sales team, conducting customer meetings, seminars and demonstrations for a range of Caliper products including automation and liquid handling. This position is also an integral part of the marketing effort, generating analytical data for use in marketing material, trade shows, publications and technical briefs as well as provides input on new product or application areas. In working with our customer base, and working with our Customer Support Team, provide application assistance and technical expertise. Pre-sales support Provide key technical input, consultation, and support for sales team either in person, by phone or by email. Travel with sales to customer sites to provide technical input and give sales/ technical presentations. Generation of application specific technical content for use by sales and marketing (Application notes and tech briefs). Provide leads for sales follow-up. Organize and support customer demonstrations at Caliper and Customer site Develop applications based scientific posters and presentation. Represent Caliper products and services at appropriate scientific meetings. Post-sales support Work with Field team to provide support to ensure the application is functioning correctly in the customer’s hands. Trouble shoot applications related problems. Work with R&D to transition routine product training to the training group. Business/Applications development Work closely with the Automation Business Unit to define new product needs. Identify and manage third party business development opportunities. Provide applications development leadership in terms of identification and implementation of new applications or reagents which may positively impact sales Experience/Skill Requirement: BS + 10 years industry or MS/PhD +5years Industry Degree in Biology, Chemistry or related field Experience with lab automation, method development/programming, genomics and drug discovery experience critical. Must be technically competent and have good people skills to work with a variety of diverse scientists/customers and as part of multidisciplinary AST team Approximately 30% travel requirement, primarily domestic, some international
