SUMMARY: · Provide strategic Human Resource Leadership to the company. Supervisory position that involves administering human resources policies, programs and practices: including planning, organizing, developing, implementing, coordinating, and directing. Duties include formulating policies and procedures for the Human Resources Department and recommending policies and practices to senior management. · Serve as internal consultant to company management team, supervisors and employees on human resource issues that affect performance and business relationships. · Select, develop, evaluate and lead a team of human resources professionals with a goal of earning high level of credibility as an effective and responsive internal consulting group. · Foster a workplace environment consistent with the values and mission of the company. · Provide HR leadership in union & non-union work environments.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: · Maintain, review and ensure consistent application of current human resource programs and policies across the organization such as compensation, performance reviews, job descriptions, benefits, training and development, vacation, employee handbook, grievances and appeals process, safety and workers comp programs. · Maintain positive employee relations, respond to employee concerns, coach managers/supervisors in effective leadership and conflict resolution. · Accurately diagnose organizational issues, develop solutions, and implement results oriented solutions. · Ensure compliance and maintain a thorough knowledge in Business Practices such as EEO, FLSA, ADA , FMLA and other regulatory requirements. · Identify legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resource functions and ensure proper compliance. · Enhance retention strategies by providing coaching and feedback on human resource issues for effective employee relations at all levels of the organization. · Lead change efforts in support of business strategy · Develop and monitor Human Resources metrics. · Lead employee communications efforts in support of business direction. · Identify legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resource functions and ensure proper compliance. · Protect interests of employees and company in accordance with company policies and governmental laws and regulations.
Secondary Functions: · Ability to complete special projects or other duties as assigned. · Ability to plan and coordinate many projects simultaneously. · Ability to contribute to decision-making affecting corporate strategy. · Ability to design and manage communication strategies and plans.
Goals and Objectives: · Demonstrate effective human resource decision making and policy development responsibility in a union-free environment as part of a highly matrix organizational structure. · Maintain positive coaching and counseling in employee relations issues. · Manage a team of Regional Human Resources Managers and provide direction on company policies through development and distribution of a continuous up-to-date employee (salaried/hourly) handbook. · Promote a positive work environment with appropriate programs, recognition and appreciation for employees.
EDUCATION: Required: Bachelors Degree in Business, HR/OD or other related field. Preferred: Masters Degree in Business, HR/OD or other related field. PHR or SPHR certification.
EXPERIENCE: Required: · Minimum of ten years Human Resource Experience. · Departmental staff assessment, manage and development of HR staff of five to ten members. · Leadership and organizational development. · Previous experience with multi-site, multi-functional organizations. · Union and Non/union experience. · Superior communications skills, written and verbal, required to address key mgt team. · Project Management experience. · Ability to proficiently use Microsoft Suite and additional PC software packages, including but not limited to spreadsheets and word documents.
