May perform one or more of the following: Plans, designs, develops and tests software systems or applications for software enhancements and new products. May develop a range of products including device drivers, patches, operating system modifications, graphics modules, etc. Analyzes, programs, and modifies software enhancements and/or new products used in local, networked, or Internet-related computer programs. Using current programming languages and technologies, writes code, completes programming, and performs testing and debugging of applications. Plans and directs studies of potential electronic data processing applications. Develops and installs programs to support general business applications running on PCs. Designs web pages, including graphics, animation, and functionality; develops infrastructure and applications related to pages. May make hardware or software purchasing recommendations regarding web development.

Functional Description:
Perform analysis, design, or test of one or more complex materials, structural components or functional systems of company products which require use of ingenuity and creativity. Based on broadly defined problems study basic design concepts and criteria for assigned highly complex materials, components, or functional systems to ascertain the engineering principles involved and to adopt features from previously successful designs of a similar nature. Without detailed direction, plan, prepare, and complete the design of assigned complex components and functional systems. Study the operation of systems, select major components to meet functional and operational requirements, and determine the optimum location and arrangement from an engineering, manufacturing, and service standpoint.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Perform highly complex analysis, test, design and/or development. Perform preliminary/original design and analysis
2. Plan strategies for analysis, test and design used for task planning and execution. Analyze project requirements and develop detailed objectives and detailed planning, conceptual designs and risk analysis.
3. Develop and oversee test programs to evaluate new materials or the assign portion of the project/program. Analyze and review test data.
4. Lead in the development of reports and design notes. Document and present results of analysis, test and design.
5. Interact with internal and external customers. Assist the customer in defining system requirements and in the generation of specifications for products or sub systems. Support new business and prepare proposal material.
6. Provide technical guidance and direction to engineering team in the design, test, production and maintenance phases of a project.
7. Develop and present materials for project related briefings including design reviews to be given to internal and external customers.
Education and Typical Years Experience
A Bachelors Degree (BA/BS) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Engineering, or equivalent experience is required.
Special Requirements
Programming experience on the Windows platform with C, PowerBuilder, Visual Basic and C# (or other MS.Net language)
Experience designing databases and writing stored procedures or embedded SQL using either SQL Server or Oracle.
Previous experience implementing real-time messaging and programming TCP/IP socket communiations.
Working knowledge of tracking and configuration management tools (ClearQuest/ClearCase preferred).
Knowledge of the software development life cycle
