Supportable LO Structures Engineer : F-35 Joint Strike Fighter Program
In this level 5 Engineer position you would join the Navy / Marine Corps F-35 Task Force at the Naval Air Warfare Center at Patuxent River, Maryland.
As lead F-35 Supportable Low Observable (SLO) / Structures Engineer you will act as Northrop Grumman Corporation's main point of contact to the Navy / Marine Corps Aviation project team in resolving issues arising from operations, maintenance, and other logistic support activities in the SLO/Structures environment. Throughout the Test and Evaluation and Operational Evaluations (OPEVAL) phases of the F-35B and F-35C you would perform in-depth troubleshooting and analysis of F-35 Weapons System SLO/Structures. Plus you would document all unusual operational/maintenance issues and ensure that appropriate design, production and supportability teams are apprised of potential / emerging risks. Initiate contractor Action Requests (AR) identifying unique operational problems that require technical, procedural, or quality assurance actions to resolve. In addition you will provide training to service personnel on F-35 weapon system maintenance when requested. The demand of this position may require working a non-standard work schedule, shipboard and field deployments. In performing those duties you would have to comply with DOD medical and Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) handling requirements.
Supportable Low Observables is a critical performance objective on the F-35, Joint Strike Fighter Program. The team you’ll join is building on the technologies and operational lessons of B-2, F-117 and F-22 programs to meet the LO supportability challenges of the maritime and expeditionary environments.
Qualifying Experience: Candidates should have a BS degree with at least 14 years experience in aircraft development, maintenance or customer support. An active Top Secret clearance required. Prior LO engineering experience on legacy platforms e.g. B-2, F-117, F-22 is desired. Airplane General (APG) or A&P license, advanced composite and structures experience is a plus. Extensive Field Service, or prior military experience preferred.
