Overview:

The Registered Professional Nurse assumes responsibility and accountability for utilizing the nursing process in the provision of resident care. The R.N. coordinates and assists with all resident care activities, residents served and areas of clinical practice in collaboration with members of the health care team.




Responsibilities:

Perform assessment/data collection in an ongoing, systematic manner, focusing on physiologic, psychologic,

cognitive and cultural diversity of the resident

____ Provide written assessment of residents on admission and based on residents’ needs and Kateri policy

____ Formulate a goal directed, individualized plan of care which is prioritized and derived from resident care needs

____ Implement plan of care, executing nursing interventions in accordance with established standards, policies and

and procedures. Intervenes with proper technique, procedure and safety precautions to meet individual needs of

residents (nutritional needs and initiating preventative measures to maintain skin integrity).

____ Document nursing interventions provided to meet assessed residents’ needs and to ensure compliance with regulatory

bodies (Department of Health, Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations).

____ Evaluate and document residents’ response to and outcome of care provided

Resident Education/Discharge Planning :

____ Assess continued care needs for discharge
