Test and Evaluation Engineer
Description:
Combat Systems Test and Evaluation (T&E) Engineer supporting Navy combat and weapon systems land-based and at-sea developmental, operational, live-fire and simulation testing programs. Participate in Surface Ship major test planning meetings designed to translate Surface Ship combat system engineering requirements into test objectives and test plans. Participate in test development to include research, analysis, design and certification as well as the identification of test resources. Capture, analyze and apply lessons learned and risk management techniques to T&E planning, execution and assessment processes. Integrate T&E lessons learned and risk assessments into Surface Ship major test planning meetings. Work in independent and team environments, acting as the technical representative in major test forums. Participate in the conduct of long range planning and execution of Undersea, Surface and Air Defense ship test events. Support Navy program offices, field activities, agencies and defense contractors to create threat-representative scenarios within program funding constraints for AEGIS weapon and combat systems, SSDS and future combat systems, Coast Guard and foreign military combat systems. Develop position papers and technical reports on time sensitive technical initiatives and studies as required. Conduct technical briefings to higher authorities and customers as required including study results, findings, overarching Navy strategies and recommendations involving multiple Navy Programs. Frequent travel to test sites, industry sites, and customer locations for on-site technical support work and Navy test execution and operations at Navy test range facilities.
Required Skills:
Familiarity of Navy combat systems engineering principles and practices. Experience leading independent and team environments is essential. Computer literacy (MS Office), technical writing proficiency, and good oral presentation skills is mandatory Minimum 5 years Navy experience. Must have a minimum Bachelor's degree. Minimum Secret Clearance required. Must be physically able to traverse the decks of U.S. Navy guided missile cruisers, guided missile destroyers and larger ships. Must be able to climb up and down narrow stairwells on USN ships. Must be capable of travel to on-site locations as needed.
Desired Skills:
Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Technical Field. Experience in conducting high-level/flag-level briefings. Experience with Combat Systems Ship Qualification Trials (CSSQT) or Test and Evaluation Master Plan (TEMP). Prior USN contractor experience. Familiarity T&E Systems, Targets, Ranges. Security Clearance Required.
