Sr. Research & Development Project Leader

Project leaders lead functional or small teams that develop and implement new products, or product improvements to meet divisional goals. This is the third level program management position and the person in this role must be independent with strong leadership skills. There is a high level of interaction with our external stakeholders and the project leader will be the driving force to ensure the team keeps the schedule commitments to our stakeholder. The role includes supporting the project manager or program director by leading the project team(s) through the implementation process. The project leader will support the planning, implementation, tracking, controlling and rollout of key projects. The person in this position is involved with the execution of the Accelerated Project Performance and Product Life Cycle processes and recognizes how project results seriously impact the overall success of the organization. The project leader interacts and influences internal and external stakeholders. Assume Lead Project Integrator role in the Product Development Process. Lead daily activities related to the development of new products via key suppliers. Author and maintain the project schedule including tracking day to day activities and resource usage. Author project documents including the Design and Development Plan and own the development of the Design History File. Communicate to International stakeholders including Europe, Asia and Latin America. Own, plan and execute Change Plans as needed. PROJECT PERFORMANCE - Identify the functional areas to participate at the core team level
- Recommend core team members
- Collaborate with Business Development to define timing and costs for development proposals
- Communication between development team and stakeholder
- Finalize team deliverables for project completion
- Interact with program manager (or sponsor), project stakeholders, project core and extended teams to ensure effective communications and manage expectations
- Work within the guidelines of the organization's project office model, standard performance metrics, and regulatory guidelines to plan, monitor, control, and implement projects
RISK MANAGEMENT - Identify and communicate risks and potential response strategies
- Choose the appropriate level of risk without substantial program impact
- Maintain historical database of project results for the purpose of lessons learned, making decisions on project continuance, and tracking overall organizational performance
ADMINISTRATION - Make project recommendations that satisfy the existing portfolio selection criteria to ensure the alignment of projects to strategic direction, resources allocation, and management decision-making
- Develop, implement, and manage projects according to the Accelerated Project Performance and Product Life Cycle processes
- Manage the creation of the project schedule and ensure functional buy-in is obtained
- Support clinical study needs including samples and documentation
- Recommend ways to continuously improve the organization's ability to execute projects from initiation to completion and production scale-up
- Stay up-to-date on current Project Management practices
HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT - Select, develop, and manage direct reports
- Develop additional project management capabilities of indirect reports.
- Mentor and train team members as needed on such things as the use of software tools
- Determine appropriate recognition of team members
- Create and propose team incentive plans as needed
- Initiate Team off-site and travel activities when appropriate
FINANCE MANAGEMENT - Drive and monitor project budget commitments
- Purchase of supplies and equipment as needed up $10,000
ISSUE RESOLUTION - Anticipate potential conflict situation for proactive solutions
- Manage conflict situations to result in win-win outcomes
Required: Business acumen Demonstrated strong leadership characteristics Understanding of G.M.P., G.L.P., & P.Q.A. requirements Experience with scheduling software Financial acumen Clinical trial team involvement Familiarity with Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) PMP Certification or equivalent Bachelors degree or equivalent 2 years of project management experience 3 years of product life cycle experience
