![]() CHILD DEVELOPMENT INSTRUCTORS (PART-TIME) CLOSING DATE: OPEN UNTIL FILLED POSITIONS AVAILABLE: The college is recruiting instructors to teach Child Development classes for the Spring 2010 semester (beginning in January) and to build a pool of instructors for future part-time assignments. Assignments may be on either the main Oceanside campus or the San Elijo Campus in Cardiff. RATE OF PAY: Placement on the associate faculty salary schedule is based on education and on prior teaching experience at MiraCosta College. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A Master’s degree in child development (CD), early childhood education (ECE), human development, home economics/family and consumer studies with a specialization in CD/ECE, educational psychology with a specialization in CD/ECE; OR a Bachelor's degree in any of the above AND a Master’s degree in social work, educational supervision, elementary education, special education, psychology, bilingual/bicultural education, life management/home economics, family life studies, or family and consumer studies; OR a valid California teaching credential authorizing child development instruction in a community college; OR the equivalent (view the equivalency instructions and guidelines at http://www.miracosta.edu/equivalency.pdf); AND sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students. APPLICATION PROCEDURE: Applicants must submit the following to the Human Resources Office, building 1000 on the main Oceanside campus: 1) a completed district academic application; 2) a cover letter; 3) a one-page statement of teaching philosophy; 4) a current resume; and 5) transcripts of all college coursework (legible photocopies are acceptable but must indicate that the degree(s) has been awarded; foreign degrees must be evaluated by a formal evaluation agency), OR a photocopy of a valid appropriate California teaching credential authorizing instruction in a community college. Applicants wishing to claim equivalency to the minimum qualifications must also submit an equivalency request narrative.
