Providence Health & Services Alaska is seeking qualified candidates for our Charge Master Analyst position. This is a project based assignment only and is a temporary (non-benefited) position starting late 2009 and lasting approximately 18-24 months. We are seeking a skilled Charge Master Analyst-Accounts Receivable for our Providence Financial Services department. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and reporting on the charge description master; ensures data integrity between the CDM and hospital department files; researches coding and revenue reporting requirements; and performs detailed annual review. You will also manage the systems & reporting structure that supports analysis of the PFS operations.

Additional roles and functions for the Charge Master Analyst-Accounts Receivable include the following:

1. CDM Maintenance: Maintains the CDM by incorporating new charges / services identified by the departments, third party changes, special requirements, coding updates; oversees security and access to the CDM.

2. CDM ANNUAL REVIEW: Performs a detailed, annual review of the CDM which includes identifying CPT and HCOCS codes which have been deleted, added or replaced; assigning specific codes when appropriate; identifying description changes; and ensuring the nomenclature reflects the procedure performed.

3. REPORTING: Facilitates the flow of billing and AR information by receiving, formatting and distributing identified data as scheduled by department. Prepares/supports projects relating to AR and internal controls.

4. PREPARATION OF STATISTICAL DATA: Generates scheduled statistical reports as required by department.

5. COMPUTER SYSTEMS: Prepares a variety of reports from multiple data bases and information systems. Must be able to efficiently and effectively utilize information systems to support registration, charge entry, billing, Third Party Reimbursement, and financial analysis functions.

6. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Demonstrates professional skills in working with departmental staff, hospital departments, physicians, physician's office staff, government agency and insurance company representatives, patients, consultants and co-workers. Maintains confidentiality of all patient information.

The essential requirements for this position include the following:

Education: Associate Degree in Accounting or Business Administration with major in Accounting preferred.

Experience: Four years of related medical system analysis experience preferred.

Other Qualifications: Personal computer based software experience required. Must be able to work cooperatively and communicate effectively with others.
