JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Environmental Manager is responsible for providing a full range of environmental management, guidance and assistance to assigned locations to ensure each assigned location meets its general environmental responsibilities. The Environmental Manager is responsible for developing, recommending, assisting and maintaining site specific programs and procedures whereby operations may meet expectations for regulatory compliance and Company Policy and to manage risk. The Environmental Manager is responsible for understanding and guiding the incorporation of new environmental standards into the ongoing programs and activities at assigned locations. Duties will include provision of a wide variety of field services functions and activities to assigned locations, such as organizing or assisting sites to develop systems and processes, including defining and teaching certain processes, procedures and systems that are required throughout the Company as common expectations of all sites and operations. Assistance to assigned locations also includes providing or supporting such functions as education, training, and the troubleshooting performance of wastewater, air pollution emission and solid waste management equipment, control devices and processes. The Environmental Manager is responsible for the development of any assigned location environmental staff and to instill an attitude of identity as a part of the Temple-Inland EHS department. This position requires interacting with the public, interacting with operations staff and managers, assisting with complaint resolutions and may participate in agency proceedings.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education Level: BS or equivalent degree in science or engineering. Advanced degree highly preferred. Experience Level: Minimum 5-7 years broad environmental expertise and regulatory knowledge. Prefer experience in the packaging industry with operations and process knowledge. Prefer experience negotiating with state agencies. Demonstrated communication skills. Self-motivated, able to work without direct supervision.
