SENIOR BUDGET ANALYST

The State University of New York (SUNY) System Administration University Budget Office, located in Albany, New York, is seeking an experienced financial and policy analyst to be a member of the team that develops and executes the multi-campus budget for the largest comprehensive public higher education system in the nation. The analyst will be responsible for collecting and analyzing data, researching policy issues, developing summaries and reports, and presenting conclusions and recommendations. The position will involve extensive interaction with the campuses, University-wide committees, other System offices, and external agencies. The incumbent will be responsible for analysis of fiscal matters for an assigned group of campuses, and will work in a project oriented, flexible environment that often requires the balancing of longer-term projects and ongoing responsibilities with the completion of priority requests for information and analysis in a short timeframe.

Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree in business, economics, public administration or a related field is required; a master’s degree is preferred. A minimum of five years’ work experience in financial analysis, business, or a related field is required. Experience in a higher education environment, especially campus experience, is a plus. Strong analytical and communication skills (both written and oral) are necessary. Extensive experience with spreadsheet packages, database packages and presentation software is required. Other important skills include: problem solving, organization, initiative, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
