Municpal Water Meter Readers-Independent Contractors The City of Des Plaines seeks individual to read water consumption amounts on water meters on an independent contractor basis. Independent contractors will not be City employees, will be paid $0.56 per residential meter read, $0.64 per commercial meter read, $0.75 per industrial meter read. Contractor will enter readings in a meter device within agreed to time frame. Contractor must have valid driver's license, related experience, good knowledge of Des Plaines street locations; and ability to do extensive walking in varying weather conditions.
