Position Description
A radar systems engineer is required to support Weapons Programs. Terminal Missile Defense development activities. Position will be responsible for radar missile seeker system-level design, architecture/concept development, requirements analysis and development, system-level trades, functional allocation, requirements flow-down to subsystem levels, and system integration and test. Activity will involve implementing engineering concepts from customer requirements, mission needs, and/or system improvement needs. This position will perform system sensitivity trades and analysis to characterize system performance and margins, and to develop missile seeker requirements, conceptual designs, signal processing/algorithm requirements and predict seeker performance. The successful candidate will work with teams of system and software engineers in specifying, analyzing, modeling, and developing new radar systems, seeker software, requirements and methodology for testing new radar systems' hardware and software, and analyzing test data. Will be actively involved in research and development of processes that support translation from abstract concepts to functional products in radar missile seekers. Will require customer and senior management presentation of concepts, trades, system description, and performance predictions. Education and/or Experience Level 5 - Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry and typically 14 to 19 years experience in an engineering classification or either a Master's degree with 12 to 17 years experience or a PhD degree with 9 to 14 years experience in an engineering classification. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.Level 6 - Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry and typically 20 years experience in an engineering classification or either a Master's degree with 18 years' experience or a PhD degree with a minimum of 15 years experience in an engineering classification. Other Job related information TH020032; TH020033 Knowledge of radar hardware development, including radome, antenna, receiver/exciter, signal processors, waveform analysis, beam steering, transmitter and power supply subsystems, and system and subsystems interface definitions. More than 5 years of direct radar analysis, design and development experience is desired. The successful candidate should have experience in airborne radar or missile radar seeker analysis and design, development of new system design concepts, signal processing techniques and algorithms, and overall system architecture development. Experience in proposal writing and technical marketing is desired. A strong background in the principles of system engineering and requirements tracking/verification is desired to ensure hierarchical development and documentation of requirements. Ability to operate successfully in a team environment and excellent communication and customer interface skills are essential. The ability/willingness to travel is required.
