Placements start in September 2010 and will be based at one of our Global AstraZeneca sites in Europe, USA, or China. Being an Engineer with AstraZeneca will expose you to many facets of the engineering profession through the support and management of various projects. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: ·Managing a number of technical projects and systems to ensure that downtime is minimised and that people and financial resources are effectively and efficiently managed, within regulatory, statutory and engineering standards ·Enhancing and / or replacing current infrastructure ·Developing an understanding of the principles and concepts associated with own specialist engineering area / subject (e.g. sustainability, energy usage, asset provision) ·Manufacturing of pharmaceutical products ·Maintaining and ensuring reliability of systems and equipment ·Managing vendor relationships and improving efficiencies and effectiveness ·Dealing with technical situations independently and seeking advice when handling more complex work activities or in making more sensitive engineering judgements or decisions ·Regularly exchanging complex information, mostly guiding and advising others, who may not have a technical and / or engineering experience or understanding, within own team and the team(s) that they support ·Interfacing with other internal functions and external groups, e.g. contractors, supplier and service providers. The role holder is expected to manage several customers at one time and be able to meet their requirements Throughout your rotations you will be involved in managing vendor relationships and improving efficiencies and effectiveness of the areas you support. You will work directly with Principal Engineers regularly and may have some exposure and/or involvement in the master planning process for the organization. Qualifications So what does it take? First and foremost, we're looking for people who can quickly understand the Operations environment. In addition, it's crucial you have strong business acumen, plus the ability to lead teams as well as delivering operational strategies through suppliers and delivering for our customers. A degree in a relevant discipline and a valid passport are essential. You will also need to be geographically mobile and be comfortable spending time working and living overseas. Minimum Qualifications: · Minimum requirement of a Bachelors degree in the field of Engineering · GPA of 3.0 or higher Preferred Qualifications: · Demonstrated Leadership experience in work, education or organizational membership experiences · This program is designed for entry level experience and candidates preferred for these positions have 0-to-3 years of work experience. · As we are a Global organization, you will also need to be fluent in English.
