Position Profile
Scripps Health was recently named #59 on Fortune Top 100 Companies to work for. Scripps Memorial La Jolla is a 300 bed facility with a Level 2 Trauma Center. As the first Magnet Hospital in San Diego, Scripps La Jolla strives to be the premier medical center for more than 80 years. On top of the Level II Trauma Center & 24 hour emergency services, Scripps La Jolla offers a wide range of medical and surgical services in intensive care, interventional cardiology & radiology, radiation oncology, cardiothoracic and orthopedic services, neurology, bariatric surgery, and women's health services.

Responsible to the Laboratory Manager for ensuring his/her area of responsibility meets licensure/inspection requirements at all times, that all quality control is performed and documented according to policy and procedure, and that staff is properly trained. Duties also include assorted clerical duties, including order processing, answering telephones, report/result distribution, specimen collection, specimen processing, and specimen testing (without supervision). Assists the Lab Manager deliver a fair and consistent performance evaluation and progressive discipline process. *HJ

Basic Qualifications (required)
Valid California Laboratory Scientist license.

Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.

Minimum Qualifications (required)
At least three years experience in Hematology/coagulation.

Understanding of medical terminology, specimen collection and processing, and testing techniques. Experience in one or more of the following disciplines required: Hematology, Chemistry, Coagulation, Microbiology, Blood Bank/Serology, Urinalysis.

Preferred Qualifications
Laboratory supervisor experience highly preferred.
