Claims Analyst

Reports to: Executive Director Department: LTS

Classification: Exempt Date: 12/17/2008

JOB SUMMARY:

The position involves working independently or with another analyst to achieve the objectives established by the Director. The Claims Analyst may be required to work extended hours to meet insurance claim evaluation commitments depending on the business volume. An understanding of industry guidelines and practices for water mitigation is a plus.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

§ Utilizing Water Event Manager (WEM), conducts all aspects of water mitigation evaluations of insurance claims, including cost comparisons with reasonable and customary rates, project compliance with accepted industry Standards and practices and determining equipment capacity requirements

§ Contacts adjusters and contractors to obtain information necessary for a thorough claim evaluation

§ Advise adjuster of the status of claim evaluatoins and/or agreed cost discusions as outlined in the insurer’s program guidelines.

§ Serve as the primary point of contact for the claim adjuster when designated as the primary analyst for a claim

§ Timely input of database information , information verification for accuracy, and completion of other project-related supporting documentation

§ Complete timely evaluations of assigned claims including review of line item estimates or invoices by comparing contractor line-item estimates/invoices to field adjuster-provided information.

§ Other duties as assigned

§ Daily review of applicable project-related information

§ Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

§ Sound presence

§ Ability to handle multiple priorities and work flexible hours

§ Self starter, highly motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision

§ Ability to read, analyze and interpret industry- specific scientific and technical data

§ Hands on, take charge, do what is necessary work ethic

§ Able to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community

§ Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of property damage repair estimating

§ Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw sound conclusions

§ Interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables

§ Professional business writing skills and strong oral communications skills

§ Ability to sit for extended periods of time

§ Ability to work either independently or as a team member when needed

§ Working knowledge of industry Standards, and practices directly applicable to the areas of water mitigation

§ Computer competent with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, as well as at least one property damage repair estimating platform; ie, Xactimate, MSB Integriclaim, SIMSOL, etc

§ Willingness and ability to conduct agreed price discussions with contractors which, at times, may be adversarial

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

§ IICRC WRT/ASD Certification or equivalent combination of education and experience is a plus

§ 0-2 years of directly applicable experience in water mitigation or property adjusting
