Position Description:
Continually assesses and monitors the patient’s condition throughout the endoscopic or pain management procedures. Assures patient safety. Demonstrates an understanding of each procedure and the equipment indicated: sets up equipment needed for procedures including colonoscopy, EGD, ERCP, sigmoidoscopy, bronchoscopy, pain management procedures, etc. Assists physician with biopsies, polypectomies, sphincterotomies, stone retrieval, stent placement, dilations, PEGS, cannulation of pancreatic and bile ducts, variceal sclerosis and other procedures. The Registered Nurse (RN) utilizes the nursing process to direct and deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients on an assigned unit in a safe and proficient manner according to individual patient needs. Provides direct patient care based upon South Austin Medical Center Hospital Standards of Care and Standards of Practice, Polices, Procedures and Practice Guidelines. Provides guidance and supervision to Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVN), Nursing Technicians, Nursing Assistants and Unit Secretaries. He/she acts as patient and advocate with the Hospital environment. Assumes Charge Nurse responsibilities and accepts assignments on other units when necessary.

40 hours per week; Flexible between Endo and Outpatient Surgery; Call every other day and approximately every third weekend. Hours are based on volumes and schedule but primarily 6:30am - 2:30pm.




Skills/Requirements

Education and Experience:
Strongly prefer acute care (hospital) experience in an Endoscopy setting and specific experience in the clinical services provided by that unit (Medical/Surgical, ICU, CCU, Surgery, Labor and Delivery, etc).

Experience with Moderate Sedation: Administering and monitoring

Licenses and Certifications:
Required:
Current RN license
ACLS
