Sr Pre-Sales Consultant - Data Protection Specialist Sr. Pre-Sales Consultant - Data Protection Specialist POSITION OVERVIEW EMC’s SSG division is looking for a regional Sr. Pre-Sales Technology Consultant to specialize in Data Protection Advisor product family —the next generation of EMC Backup Advisor—provides the real-time monitoring and reporting you need to stay on top of your ever-evolving data protection environment. Data Protection Advisor collects and analyzes information from your entire data protection infrastructure to help you make quick, informed decisions so you can solve problems faster and meet your service levels. Leverage Data Protection Advisor to increase operational efficiency, drive down costs, meet compliance requirements, and maintain change-management control—while dramatically accelerating audit and business reporting. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversees pre-sales activities primarily for our Data Protection Advisor application family. Working as a specialist with our other sales teams, this translates to providing in-depth technical expertise in sales presentations, product demonstrations, installation and maintenance of company products to ensure that the system is functioning according to specification.
- Hands-on experience presenting at a technical level to both senior level decision makers as well as customer’s technical staff during live and virtual meetings (webex)
- Responsible for product articles, documentation, white papers, demonstrations, trade show participation, field sales and customer consulting and customer briefing presentations
- Develop and guide product education to EMC’s sales force as well as working with our partners’ teams using video conferencing, formal education, regional office visits and technical consulting support to field resources upon request
- Influence development efforts and advise on future product enhancements
- Communicates progress toward project/program goals to senior management
REQUIRED Experience - Solid hands on technical ability on UNIX and windows platforms, trouble shooting product code and log files, and experience with shell/Perl scripting.
- Knowledge of replication technologies (SRDF, MirrorView) and CDP (RecoverPoint) a plus, though not required.
- Need knowledge/experience with backup applications: NetWorker, Avamar, TSM, NetBackup, Commvault, etc.
- Project Management Skills.
- Must possess strong product/technology/industry knowledge, specifically with a focus on data protection and data back-up technologies.
- Strong written and oral presentation skills, the ability to work effectively on a cross functional basis, combined with highly effective influencing skills, is essential.
- Results driven and Goal Oriented.
- 4+ years Sales/Systems Engineering Experience in the Storage Industry
- BS degree or higher
