Senior Database Administrator - BabyCenter, LLC: Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies

BabyCenter, a member of Johnson & Johnson's Family of Companies, is currently recruiting for a Senior Database Administrator located in San Francisco, CA.

The Senior Database Administrator will have deep experience in working with large-scale databases in support of a high-traffic consumer website. S/he will work with the development and operations teams to design, implement, and tune production quality databases. This person must be a collaborative team payer that is open to new technology, is eager to learn, and is willing to work with others. S/he is expected to apply their thirst for knowledge to produce high-end deliverables.

Responsibilities include: DB maintenance, backup, and recovery, DB monitoring, performance tuning, Development of scripts for a variety of DB-related tasks, DB replication setup, Push DB schema and data changes, Review and optimize SQL queries, Support requests from product marketing teams including writing SQL queries.

A minimum of a Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience is required. A minimum of 5 years of experience as a DBA is required. A minimum of 2 years of MySQL DBA experience in a production environment is required. Experience working in Unix/Linux on MySQL 4.1 and/or 5.0 is required. Excellent knowledge and experience in InnoDB & MyISAM is required. Must have experience in DataBase backup, recovery, replication, HA, schema, optimization, queries, security and data changes, etc. Experience as an Oracle DBA (RMAN, standby server) is preferred. Strong skills in SQL and scripting languages (Perl/Python/Unix Shells, etc.) are highly desired. Nagios monitoring work is a plus. Experience converting Oracle DBs to MySQL is a plus. This environment requires 24/7 pager rotations.
