Job Description: This position can be filled in either our Omaha, NE; Columbia, MD or Jersey City, NJ office. Role: The Principal Application Architect is responsible for directing a team application architects charged with developing and managing the implementation of the Corporate Application Architecture. Experience/background with Oracle Coherence is required. Responsibilities: Serve as an industry expert providing strategic oversight and planning of enterprise data models and data architecture. Oversees and influences the strategic data architecture during the development of applications. Anticipate and resolve database integration issues for technical infrastructures of all complexities. Provide thought leadership for enterprise-level data management and integration with SOA initiatives. Educate and provide methodology consulting around data architecture and data access methods throughout the T2 organization. Provide guidance and mentoring to less experienced developers. Provide database related technical expertise to application development and infrastructure efforts. Provide input to development of vision, specifies key performance requirements and defines technical critical success factors. Monitor industry trends and directions in database technology and tools; develops and presents substantive technical recommendations to senior management. Makes architecture related recommendations. Develop the policies and procedures associated with the data requirements for application development. Provide expertise with distributed caching technologies, extreme transaction processing and data grid technologies. Make architecture related recommendations during the integration and development of SOA services. Work closely with Database Management group to define standards and best practices around issues like master data management, reference data, data modeling, ETL, etc. Experience: Requirements: The ideal candidate for the position will have a diverse IT and Business background with 10 or more years of IT experience, preferably in the financial services industry, and a minimum of 2 years of IT management experience. He/she will ideally be well versed in Broker/Dealer operations, preferably in trading and back-office functions, and has an in-depth understanding of and experience in implementing supporting technologies. Ideal qualifications include: Experience mentoring and developing senior level technologists. Experience working with a variety of constituents within and outside of IT to drive cohesiveness while ensuring that the architectural direction is achieved. Experience with Enterprise Service Bus and Enterprise Messaging technologies (i.e. Tibco, RV, JMS) Experience as a Lead Architect on inception-to-delivery of enterprise Service Oriented Architectures (SOA) is a plus Must be well versed in and have experience with software development methodologies, software development and QA standards, IT policies and procedures, and technology standards Significant experience in designing and developing application architectures Broad knowledge of prevailing and next generation technologies Experience in designing and implementing widely distributed application architectures Have excellent written and oral communications skills Ability to think on an enterprise level; be forward looking -- prepare short and long term plans Ability to perform problem analysis and develop resolutions at both strategic and functional levels Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Information Technology or, Business Management with significant related IT experience; relevant experience may be substituted Masters degree in a technology discipline or MBA is preferred TD AMERITRADE offers a competitive compensation package and an exceptional benefits package including medical, dental, performance-based Bonus program, PTO, 401K, tuition assistance and more.
