Location: Lowell , MA (no relocation available)

The Ericsson IP Division designs, develops, and markets networking solutions for IP based services and communications. Our hardware, software, and services are designed to create solutions that address the operational and technical challenges of building a next generation network that delivers consumer and business services. Redback's solutions enable carriers and service providers to rapidly and efficiently deploy broadband internet access, IP video, and online gaming with the SmartEdge® product portfolio.

This is a senior level role focused in developing our next generation platform focused on the Edge Routing and Metro Ethernet markets. As a principal engineer on the team you will have a wide scope, and depth, of responsibilities. Focus areas will be full life-cycle development of: drivers, infrastructure, and embedded systems development. This role has high impact and high visibility within the team. We are looking for someone that has experience building carrier class networking product with a passion for solving complex problems with a solid work ethic and team player attitude.

Candidate Profile:

• BS/MS degree in CS or related discipline with 12+ years of relevant experience

• Hands on knowledge and experience in the design, development and debugging of embedded telecommunication systems equipment

• Experience with traffic generation test equipment (Agilent, Ixia, Smartbits, Adtech)

• Additional experience and/or exposure to any of the following:
o Inter-process communication
o Prior experience with switching fabrics
o Micro-coding; Forwarding
o A solid understanding of IP QOS
o Embedded network management
