Respiratory Therapist RRT
· Administers respiratory medications and respiratory therapy as ordered by physician, to patients of all age groups.
· Consider all available options, makes appropriate age specific (neo, peds, adolescent, adult, geriatric) recommendations.
· Takes needed action and evaluates outcomes.
· Explains procedures to patients thoroughly.
· Provides assistance when necessary.
· Monitors patient' comfort and alleviates anxiety during procedures.
· Assures delivery of quality respiratory therapy services.
· Is available for consultation with medical, nursing and administrative staff.
· Completes patient driven protocol evaluations within the standards and time lines set forth by the Respiratory Therapy assessment protocol.
· Applies and monitors invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilatory support.
· Recognizes and reports changes in patient condition to appropriate patient care personnel including physicians, co-workers & nursing staff.
· Communicates all pertinent information regarding patient's progress and needs to the appropriate hospital staff.
· Completes accurate and timely documentation of all patient care delivered with all required information including patient condition and response following departmental standards.
· Considers time, supplies and support required from other individuals and departments in setting up work plans and completing duties.
· Identifies patient needs for education and provides patient teaching through clear and tactful communication with patients and their caregivers.
· Assembles equipment, performs verification tests and appropriately documents equipment readiness and work accomplished.
· Regularly updates knowledge of techniques, guidelines and regulations.Assists others in developing job skills and enhancing performance.
· Assigns daily detailed shift work assignments with consideration for staff ability, patient need and department requirements.
· Maintains consistent and quality work flow for department processes in the absence of supervision.
· Maintains close communication with management and peer charge therapists regarding quality issues within the department (including patient needs, staff ability, equipment needs etc. pertinent to the shift.)
· Develops and enhances job knowledge and models leadership behaviors.
Education: Two years of training with an Associates Degree from an Accredited RRT program
Experience: More than 1 year related experience
License / Certification / Registration: Current Colorado RRT License required
