Alfred State College is currently seeking applications for the following positions. Director of Civic Engagement and Student Leadership Programs
The Director of Civic Engagement and Leadership Development is a key leadership position in the Division of Student Affairs. Under the direction of the Vice President for Student Affairs and the Associate Vice President for Student Life, the Director is responsible for coordination of a number of civic engagement and student leadership programs for the campus community. He or she is actively engaged in program development, delivery of programs and program evaluation for the following areas: civic engagement and community service; peer leadership advising, student leadership programming, Greek life and the effective infusion of these activities into the Student Leadership Center. This position is expected to develop activities that expose our students to active involvement in civic, leadership, social, cultural, intellectual, recreational, and governance programs that complement our academic mission in the preparation of good citizens and future leaders. The focus of this position is on enhancement of civic engagement programs, development of new student leadership programs, oversight of experiential education activities in the Student Leadership Center, preparation of all student leadership presenters, and club leadership development. The Director is also responsible for the overall development, organization, management and supervision of a comprehensive Greek Life program that meets the needs of Alfred State College students, faculty and staff. This is a full-time, 12 month position.
Master’s Degree in College Student Personnel, Higher Education Administration, Leadership Studies or related field is required. Experience in development of civic engagement opportunities, development and presentation of leadership training whether at the workshop level or multi-day retreat level, or experience with advising students and student organizations is critical to the position. Leadership experience within a Greek organization and affiliation with a Greek Letter organization is strongly preferred. Training in experiential education curriculums (Project Adventure; Outward Bound) that are appropriate to the pedagogical designs required to effectively plan civic engagement and student leadership programs are also preferred.
Assistant Director for Human Resources
Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or related curriculum; 1-3 years experience in the human resources field; good knowledge of the State Civil Service Law and local rules and regulations; good knowledge of principles, practices and techniques of personnel administration; and good knowledge of principles of position classification, job evaluation, salary administration, employee relation, performance rating, recruitment and affirmative action required. Master’s Degree in Human Resources or related curriculum preferred.
