Department Overview
The objective of the AMSC (Application Management Service Centre) is to provide a centre-of-excellence for global application management and support, with over 200 staff providing 24 x 7 services across front, middle, back office and enterprise-wide applications.

The services offered are defined in the global Application Management Target Operating Model and focus on the Run-The-Bank (RTB) activities within an ITIL Framework. These include areas such as Incident / Problem / Change Management, Release / Configuration Management, Service Level Management, Capacity Management and Service Continuity Management.

Main Function
The role sits within the AMSC FI / EM Rates team that is dedicated to the holistic support of the Fixed Income Rates business and will be working very closely with our partners in the FI RTB group, particularly the FI Rates Trading Component Group (TCG) team.

The Global Fixed Income business aims to be one of the leading liquidity providers in the derivatives and the Government bond markets, and to offer an integrated sales, trading and research service to the client base comprising investor business, corporates, financial institutions and hedge funds. The product offering includes Government Bonds, interest rate swaps, basis swaps, interest rate options & swaptions, FRAs and caps / floors.
The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure the continued availability, efficiency, effectiveness and accuracy of the production application systems used by the Global Fixed Income Rates business, and realize the maximum value from them through continuous technical and business process improvements.
Some of the key supported applications include Summit, Platinum, TMS (Trade Management System), T0PL (T+0 P&L System), EMS (Event Management System).


Main Duties
The successful candidate will have the following responsibilities:
  • 1st/2nd Line application and business process support for the applications under TCG (Trading Components Group).
  • Proactive monitoring of applications to ensure maximum system uptime.
  • Diagnose / troubleshoot production issues and user queries.
  • Take ownership of issues through to resolution or escalation, as appropriate.
  • Escalate issues to Development Support if can’t be solved within the agreed SLA.
  • Liaise with Development teams on bugs, fixes or new features to be released.
  • Assist with User Acceptance Testing during systems rollout.
  • Building a procedure framework and enhancement of knowledge base.
  • Undertake projects as required, including, but not restricted to, the following areas:- capacity and performance management, monitoring initiatives, infrastructure upgrades, web based tools, reporting and documentation.
  • Require to work on a support rota. To be in office early morning on shifts and would need to do the occasional weekend work or on-call


Person Requirements
Education (Required):
  • Numerate Degree or equivalent
Education (Preferred):
  • Science/Engineering Degree
Experience (Required):
  • Considerable working experiences in supporting applications in a global environment for critical production systems.
  • Summit Exposure
  • Sybase
  • An understanding of scheduled batch activities.
  • A good level of financial and Summit knowledge
Experience (Preferred):
  • Significant working experiences in supporting Front Office applications in a global Fixed Income business.

Skills & Knowledge (Preferred):

  • Good understanding of Front Office applications like trade capture, pricing and trade lifecycle.
  • Familiarity with Oracle RDBMS/MS SQL.
  • Good working knowledge of a high level language: Java / C++ / C# / VBA / VB / Excel.
  • Well rounded knowledge on Fixed Income & Derivatives products like:
    • Treasuries Bills, Strips, Bond & Notes
    • Interest Rate Swaps
    • Caps, Floors, Swaptions
    • Futures, Options
Good understanding on electronic trading platform or markets like Gardan, Brokertec, Markitwire etc.
Experience in working in the distributed computing environment, eg. blades.

Desirable

  • Shell scripting
  • Perl
  • Korn shell scripting
  • Investment Banking experience advantageous but not essential.
  • Knowledge of the Derivative market products a bonus.
  • Unix administration and to a high level
Profile:
  • Strong analytical and investigation skills.
  • Must be able to demonstrate practical experience of day-to-day support including end-user queries, problem resolution of trade issues and taking ownership of end-to-end resolution.
  • Ability to work under pressure and continue to support users and applications.

  • Flexible approach to working hours. Need to work on a shift/rota basis and/or weekends/on-call as required for the role.
