The Forensic Examiner (FE) will be a specially trained Family Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant who will conduct sexual assault, abuse and other forensic examinations. He/She will demonstrate competency in conducting a forensic exam, in obtaining evidentiary samples, and in the ability to testify as a witness in court. The Forensic Examiner will serve as a resource and consultant within their areas of expertise to other medical personnel and will maintain standards of excellence in patient care. The Forensic Examiner is responsible for providing and directing care to victims of crimes.

  • Graduate of a school of professional nursing
  • Graduate of a school of physician assistant
  • Minimum of 2 years health care experience
  • Completion of SART training course and preceptorship
  • Current license to practice professional nursing in the State of Alaska or
  • Current license to practice medicine in the State of Alaska
  • Current BLS
