POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direct supervision of the Director of Radiology, the Radiology Manager oversees all technical and operational issues associated with the management of Radiology Services. Provides radiologic and ultrasound exams according to physicians orders. Recognizes the purpose of employment is to prioritize the patient as number one. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Assists the Director of Radiology with overseeing operational issues of the Radiology Department with constant attention to operations budget. Gives feedback to the Director of Radiology on a continuing basis and provides information for monthly reports. Oversees the operations of the Radiology department in the absence of the department director. 2. Oversees and facilitates all processes associated with patient flow to ensure optimum departmental efficiency. To include, but not limited to the supervision of staff, timely and equitable work distribution, completion of all associated patient paperwork, and assisting with all associated clerical duties. 3. Responsible for supervising all QC processes for all Radiology services. Responsible for quality control monitoring of the radiographic films performed by all technologist. Provides technical expertise to the technologist. 4. Coordinates schedules (workload and personnel staffing) for Radiology department. Ensures appropriate staffing for all shift. 5. Assists Director of Radiology in all preparation for JCAHO, or any regulatory agency survey/audits. 6. Participates in development of annual capital budget. Recommends equipment modifications when necessary to insure availability of appropriate patient services while maintaining cost effective. 7. Assists with the maintenance of the Meditech system to include dictionary file maintenance and participation in periodic system upgrades. Provides assistance/training for all employees on the utilization of all related modules of the Meditech system. 8. Responsible for timely evaluations of all employees in the Radiology department. 9. Performs Patient care as necessary. 10. Other duties as assigned. EDUCATION REQUIRED AND/OR PREFERRED: REQUIRED: Graduate of an accredited or registered school of Radiology Technology. LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: REQUIRED: Current registration with A.R.R.T (American Registry of Radiologic Technologist). Certified by the Texas Department of Health. EXPERIENCE REQUIRED OR PREFERRED: PREFERRED: Previous supervisory experience preferred. SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES: The Radiology manager should have a high degree of technical aptitude with an in-depth knowledge of anatomy and physiology. An ability to improve the standard procedures when necessary. Ability to motivate and supervise assigned personnel; ability to train new personnel, ability to determine appropriate course of action when dealing with unique situations, ability to communicate verbally and in writing in an effective manner.
