Sr. Plasma Center Technician/Phlebotomist - PT

  • Comply with federal, state, local and company-specific regulations related to quality of product, employee and donor safety and to the proper performance of day-to-day activities.
  • Install, prime, and disconnect disposable sets on the Auto-C machines.
  • Operate, maintain, and perform trouble-shooting of Auto-C plasmapheresis machines within scope of training
  • Maintain and calibrate equipment
  • Committed to meet customer service expectations, greet and acknowledge donors as they are assigned to donation area and after they complete donation process
  • Venipuncture of donors and programming of Auto-C machine
  • Perform all duties required for the setup, verification, operation, and trouble-shooting of Auto-C equipment
  • Prepare donors for collection of plasma
  • Change disposable sets during donation process as necessary
  • Monitor donors during donation process
  • Handle donor reactions within scope and limitations of SOPs
  • Maintain complete and accurate records, in accordance with cGMP. Review completeness and accuracy of donor history card.
  • Stock supplies, break down empty cartons and assist with proper disposal.
  • Organize plasma boxes/documents for scheduled shipments and assist in loading shipments.
  • Perform routine maintenance on the freezer including monitoring freezer and refrigerator temperatures and removing ice buildup.
  • Assist management team with inventory control procedures, to include stocking supplies to meet SOP requirements upon delivery and issuing supplies as needed to production areas.
  • Maintain qualifications required for all tasks associated with the Plasma Center Technician
  • May assist in training new/existing employees and provide leadership to Plasma Center Technicians and Sr. Plasma Center Technicians.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Maintain general cleanliness of work area and assist other work areas as needed to ensure a clean and professional environment.
  • Attend monthly staff meetings.


Ability to read and follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and to maintain complete and accurate records. Good verbal communication and customer service skills. Sr. Plasma Technicians will be required to complete all training within the amount of time outlined on the formal training plan. Fully qualified Sr. Plasma Center Technicians will be trained in phlebotomy, medical history and plasma processing.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

Production environment. Requires frequent leaning, bending, stooping, crouching, reaching above shoulders and below knees, and lifting up to 50 pounds, along with the ability to walk and stand for entire work shift. Fine motor coordination, depth perception and ability to hear equipment sounds from a distance. Potential exposure to blood borne pathogens (risk level 1 ) with 90% of work tasks requiring glove wear. Cross-training in other work areas will require pro-longed glove wear.

High School diploma or equivalent is required. Experience in a laboratory, hospital, or other regulated environment is highly desirable. Prior phlebotomy experience is preferred.
