Director, Laboratory-Laboratory: Brattleboro Memorial Hospital

The Laboratory Director manages and coordinates all activities of the clinical lab. Coordinates a wide variety of administrative, fiscal and technical activities to ensure effective operation of the Lab. Establishes departmental policies/procedures and assures compliance. Maintains lab standards for CAP certification. Maintains lab QA program. Works with administration and pathologist in problem-solving. Critical competencies include the following:

• Demonstrates the ability to manage the total financial picture of the department to maximize income and minimize expenses.
• Provides leadership for quality/performance improvement programs for the laboratory to ensure high quality of services.
• Designs and implements the communication plan for the laboratory to promote employee understanding, involvement and commitment in department function.
• Ensures that the laboratory staff has appropriate technical support, equipment and supplies to perform their duties.
• Oversees and assists in maintaining the laboratory information system.

Qualifications include a BS in Medical Technology or related science required. No less than six years recent laboratory experience, including two years of management experience required. MT (ASCP) required.
