This position is responsible
for the administration of the real estate originations, operations and
servicing functions within the Lending Division. It is a leadership
position which manages real estate originations, operations and loan servicing
for the credit union. The incumbent reports to the SVP Lending/Chief
Credit Officer and is a member of the Wescom Management Team. The
position has three direct reports consisting of two managers and one Lending
Analyst.
ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:
- Works with executive members of the Wescom lending
team to develop establish and maintain business relationships with all channels
of potential new market-share.
- Monitors and analyzes the financial profitability
of all directly reporting loan operations, including period evaluations to ensure
quality and compliance with standard operating procedures.
- Establishes and maintains the annual real estate
lending objectives, goals and budgets.
- Establishes and maintains the real estate lending
policies and procedures for all real estate programs and operations.
- Manages the originations, processing, underwriting,
closing, funding and servicing functions of all real estate business.
- Manages the secondary market and shipping functions
for all real estate loans.
- Manages the sales, marketing and business
development functions of all real estate loan business endeavors at
Wescom.
- Uses corporate-authorized metrics to track,
evaluate and incorporate an ongoing, competitive edge on production.
- Responsible for all real estate business partner
relationships and communications.
- Responsible for all residential loan products
originated by credit union clients, including first trust mortgage loans, home
equity closed-end loans and home equity lines of credit.
- Achieves production volume goals while ensuring
sufficient levels of loan quality are met in accordance with the philosophy,
policies and criteria of secondary market investors and/or credit union
clients.
- Promotes high levels of customer and member service
and satisfaction throughout all lines of the real estate mortgage business,
including actively sponsoring customer and member service improvements on an
ongoing basis.
- Recommends new loan products, program offerings,
marketing materials, lending strategies, software enhancements and methods of
service delivery.
- Utilizing established metrics, monitors each staff
member's performance levels relative to productivity and efficiency, and
develops and implements process and performance improvements.
- Supervises, motivates, educates, coaches, mentors
and evaluates the performance of the positions reporting to the incumbent.
- Develops and implements company plans, strategies,
expense budgets, policies and procedures.
- Monitors and analyzes trends/changes in residential
real estate lending, and develops and recommends changes to products, policies
and procedures. Develops and recommends changes to risk models and
underwriting systems and policies.
- Responsible for tracking, fulfillment and responses
to real estate audit and examination exception items.
SECONDARY FUNCTIONS:
- Attends regional and national conferences, and
industry-related seminars.
- Ensures adequate departmental facilities and
resources.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
COMMITTEE PARTICIPATION:
Member of Executive Management Team: joins with
all management members to review and address member service delivery and
related functions, operational policies, employee issues, quality control
problems, planning items and other Wescom activities.
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION AND
EXPERIENCE:
Ten (10) or more years experience in residential real
estate lending, including a minimum of five (5) years real estate lending
management experience, including production within a multi-office network, is
required for this position.
Bachelor of Science degree in a related field (e.g.,
business, finance, accounting, marketing, etc.) is preferred.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Requires comprehensive working knowledge of
residential real estate lending, including comprehensive working knowledge of
the primary and secondary markets, product development, pricing and the retail,
wholesale and correspondent lending production channels. General
knowledge of the real estate, corporate finance and investment banking
industries. Must have knowledge and experience with all aspects of the
residential real estate loan process, including first trust mortgage loans
(fixed-rate and adjustable), intermediate-term ARMs, second trust loans and
lines of credit, credit scoring, servicing operations, risk management,
portfolio analysis, product and service marketing, designing collateral
marketing materials and marketing campaign organization.
- Ability to monitor and analyze changes in the
residential real estate lending marketplace, and develop and implement
appropriate short- and long-term business solutions.
- Knowledge of Credit Union operations and ability to
integrate and communicate critical information.
- Strong management, leadership, coaching and
mentoring skills to effectively develop, challenge and motivate a remotely-located
staff.

COMPUTER SKILLS:
Proficiency in Microsoft Applications (Word, Excel,
PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.). Experience with Prime Alliance and Calyx Point
loan origination systems preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Prior signatory authority for real estate loan
approvals.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all
units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
Ability to compute rates, ratios and percentages, and to draw and interpret bar
graphs. Ability to operate a financial (business) calculator.
