Description:

The Senior Buyer is responsible for the research, evaluation, competitive bidding and purchase of goods, equipment and services for MSG Teams and MSG Corporate. Develops blanket agreements on frequently used items and creates catalogs on the purchasing system for easy ordering by the user department. Researches new products & specifications and searches for qualified vendors to supply these needs. Requests bids for standard and custom inventory in addition to non-inventory and capital items. Initiates the Request for Quotes bidding process, analyzes bids for awards, generates system purchase orders with vendors and confirms all prices and delivery dates. Monitors vendor performance, quality of products and workmanship and takes appropriate action as needed. Updates pricing and vendor files in the Puridiom purchasing system. Resolves invoice problems and assist various users in resolving questions and issues with the automated purchasing system. Participates in special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have five to seven years experience in general purchasing. Must have knowledge of various equipment needed by professional basketball and hockey teams including athletic gear, materials and services to maintain ice rinks and basketball courts, fitness equipment, and medial supplies, etc. Will be knowledgeable in general office needs with an understanding in general office management. Must have strong quantitative skills with the ability to level bids and present financial analysis supporting recommendations and decisions. Must be able to translate user needs using diplomacy and have the ability to exercise good judgment and sound decision making. Will be knowledgeable of applicable laws and company policies regarding purchasing, vendor relations and sales tax, and have an awareness of vendor performance, reputation and suitability. Candidate must possess excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast paced, unpredictable environment. Will be computer proficient with comprehensive knowledge of Automated Purchasing Systems and MS Office Programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access). Must be flexible to work overtime on short notice when situations arise.
