Research Assistant: North Carolina State University

Minimum Experience/Education: Position requires a MS degree in entomology, plant pathology, ecology, botany or a related field.

Departmental Required Skills: Excellent written communication skills; adequate statistical analysis skills; ability to work as part of a team; ability to deal with quickly changing assignments and deadlines and to work reliably with minimal supervision; familiarity with MS Word and Excel 2007, experience with formatting figures and tables.

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education: Candidates with a PhD in one of the areas listed above will be preferred. Familiarity with EndNote and experience with creating large documents are desirable.

Essential Job Duties: The successful applicant will carry out work supporting cooperative activities of the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the Center for Integrated Pest Management. The applicant's main responsibility will be providing technical assistance for a project that will result in a large, scientific report. The project will evaluate the likelihood of exotic species introduction into and within Micronesia. Specifically, duties will include: preparing data sets; statistical analysis; literature searches; scientific writing; reviewing and editing drafts; formatting text, tables and figures; ensuring consistency of formatting and terminology; reference management. Individual will be required to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Other Work/Responsibilities: Additional duties as assigned.

Necessary Licenses or Certifications: Valid Driver's License. A valid NC Driver's License is required within 60 days of hire.
