Minimum Experience/Education: GRADUATION FROM A FOUR-YEAR COLLEGE OR UNIVERISTY WITH A MAJOR IN ELECTRONICS, TELECOMMUNICATIONS, ENGINEERING OR A CLOSELY RELATED FIELD AND THREE YEARS OF EXPERIENCE IN NETWORK DESIGN, ANALYSIS, OR MANAGEMENT; OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE.

Departmental Required Skills: Network management automation via script development using Perl, C, HTML, Python, PHP, UNIX programming, MySQL, experience with large campus enterprise networks, experience with network management products ( e.g. CiscoWorks, NetDisco, Cacti, etc.) understanding of network protocols including but not limited to TCP/IP, IP Routing, VLANs, SNMP management and understanding of the OSI model.

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education: Prefer experience with understanding of network protocols, debugging and troubleshooting; test script development and UNIX programming.

Essential Job Duties: NC State is seeking a highly technical, self motivated individual to become part of our campus networking team supporting over 36,000 faculty, staff, and students. Primary duties include application development and support of our open source data network monitoring system. Development, support and enhancement of peripheral systems will be required as well. These systems include the registration system for our wireless network, enhancement of network graphing tools, campus IT support tools, student cable TV registration system. Other duties include level three support to Network Operations; functional verification of network devices; web page application development and project documentation.
