Utah Valley University, a dynamic, evolving institution with enrollment over 25,000 students, is seeking a qualified Academic Advisor for the School of the Arts. UVU is located in the Orem-Provo area, 40 miles south of Salt Lake City at the base of the beautiful Wasatch Mountains. The university is situated close to six national parks. Rich cultural and outdoor opportunities abound.

Summary of Duties:

Manage all aspects of advising functions for prospective, new, continuing, and transfer students in all phases of their department based academic program from matriculation through graduation.

Monitor student academic progress toward fulfillment of degree and/or certification requirements for their chosen course of study.

Collaborate with department chair regarding student advisement, recruitment & registration; assist with scheduling & monitoring classes, & adjusting enrollments. Collaborate with chair and faculty regarding curriculum changes and development; modify advising materials accordingly.

Represent department at student recruitment meetings, conferences, committees, and other student functions. Serve on various committees including coordinating with department faculty mentor(s) regarding internships.

Coordinate with Utah and regional colleges/universities to develop articulation/transfer agreements for majors. Maintain current knowledge of federal/state regulations and requirements as well as UVU policies/procedures to accurately answer questions.

Minimum Qualifications:

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree plus two years of experience related to the summary of duties.
