Industrial Hygienist
Responsibilities
The National Security Agency (NSA) is seeking a self-motivated professional to work in our Environmental and Safety Services organization as an Industrial Hygienist.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for all industrial hygiene and environmental health program areas, including indoor air quality and ergonomics; preparing written technical reports with recommendations for corrective actions to alleviate hazards; coordinating with managers, medical, safety, fire protection, environmental and engineering professionals to resolve issues that impact the health and well-being of the workforce.
Additional duties include:
* Conduct comprehensive baseline surveys of operations Agency-wide to prioritize and plan sampling strategies of potential exposure hazards;
* Gather and interpret data from sampling chemical, physical and biological stresses;
* Perform specialized surveys involving indoor air quality;
* Coordinate medical surveillance programs required to monitor the health status of employees;
* Conduct briefings on a variety of industrial hygiene and environment health programs
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should posses a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Sciences, or related branch of life/physical science or its equivalent. A Master of Science degree in Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science or related branch of life/physical science is preferred. 1-3 years of related experience is required. Must demonstrate application of industrial hygiene principles and techniques to identify and evaluate exposure to a variety of chemical, physical and biological stresses. Experience in conducting indoor air quality investigations and mold assessments are preferred. This position requires lifting (not to exceed fifty pounds), climbing of ladders, and some outside survey work.
