The East Asiatic Company (EAC parent company Finance Dept))
May 1998 - October 2000 Assistant Financial controller / SAP FI + Treasury project manager Singapore

When it was decided to upgrade the financial systems in the EAC Finance Department to SAP Treasury, I was the assistant Financial Controller and I was appointed to drive and co-ordinate its implementation. This entails
establishing optimal work processes, documenting the system requirements and doing the SAP configuration within the finance department, covering:
·SAP General ledger and AR accounting system with direct link to treasury transaction system
·SAP Treasury system to handle various financial products, including:
· External and inter-company money market deposits / loans
· Foreign currency spot and forward transactions
· Interest rate derivatives and Securities
· SAP Cash management / liquidity forecast system
· Market Risk Management indicators (currency and interest exposure and Value at Risk).
· Prototype system in test environment
· Prepare user instructions (technical and end-user guides)
· Security setup (authorization profiles).
· Write program specification for interface for SAP balances download to Hyperion EAC Group consolidation tool. I worked closely with ABAP programmers to achieve this.

The project was successfully completed on time and within budget, resulting in substantial reduction of time and manpower required to generate month end accounts and significantly improved cash and risk management tools.

After the project completion I worked as part of the team of accountants in the corporate headquarter, using the bank account dial up systems and Hyperion consolidation software - I also worked on Group Equity accounting, investments in subs., intercompany elimination, dividends, currency translation adjustments and various group restructuring transactions. I also performed ad-hoc financial analysis and “mark to market” calculations of Derivatives.

The East Asiatic Company (Nutritional Division - regional center)
October 1996 - April 1998 Project manager (Hyperion consolidation) Singapore

Reporting directly to the CFO of the Dumex Nutrition division of EAC, I was given the mission to set up a new system to capture financial and management information for the newly established Dumex Regional Center in Singapore in a standardized format, covering 4 production companies. The software used was a combination of a Hyperion Enterprise and links to Excel spreadsheets and the information collected was complete monthly financial statements in foreign currency, sales volumes by product and inventory and accounts receivables information for working capital performance measurement (DSO).

Upon completion of the reporting package development, I proceeded to on-site implementation in Thailand, Malaysia, China (Shanghai) and Denmark to install the package and train the users in the operating units. The number of users was 4-5 each place and the implementation was completed within a tight timeframe.

Thereafter, I worked as an administrator/controller of the database and had frequent interaction with the reporting operating units. The information was used as input in the monthly consolidated management report and for performance measurement of the business units. This ultimately evolved into a balanced scorecard concept for the Dumex group of companies. Each month I could re-use the same Excel template for tables and charts.
The East Asiatic Company (Singapore subsidiary)
October 1995 - September 1996 Accounts / IT trainee Singapore

With a fresh Master degree in Finance, I packed my bag and went from Denmark to Singapore to work one year.
·It turned out well and I stayed in Singapore 5 years more.
·As trainee I had a great mentor and learned quickly.
·I can obviously provide several references from my 5.5 years with EAC. colleagues.
