IBM Global Services, July 1996 - December 1999
Senior Project Manager

Project manager for IBM Global Services supporting the Lucent Technologies Application Development and Maintenance (AD/M) account. The project scope consisted of 1,500+ people in seven major US locations supporting 500+ corporate application systems.

Performed project management activities, including estimates, assumptions, and financial projections; application migration schedule; status reports to customer and senior management; issue, problem, and risk management and resolution.

Developed and implemented organizational AD/M project management policies, processes, and procedures that are Software Engineering Institute - Capability Maturity Model (SEI CMM) Level 2 compliant.

Managed Y2K projects for Lucent Network Systems. Partnered with customer, Year 2000 Conversion Centers, and IBM teams to develop strategies, inventory applications, train development teams, track progress, and successfully complete Y2K conversion center pilot projects.

Developed Transition Reporting Expert (T-Rex) a Lotus Notes-based client-server database application.

Provided support and recommendations in the areas of transition planning and contract data management. Staffed 100+ technical contractors in the first 60 days of the account. Assisted with transition of approximately 400 Lucent regular and contract employees into IBM.

Acted as a mentor to the management and technical teams. Contributed to achieving a 93% customer satisfaction survey rating with the Lucent customers.

Acted as the purchasing focal point for AD/M organization. Teamed with Lucent customer, IBM Purchasing, Vendor firms, and Management Team to coordinate purchasing activities, resolve issues, and provide ongoing customer communication. Worked with the management team to reduce costs by replacing high cost contractors.

Performed Capital Expense coordination. Analyzed and submitted business cases as input to the Capital Plan. Inventoried all personal computers and related capital equipment. Developed and deployed standard desktop and mobile computer configurations. Tracked equipment transferred from customer to IBM. Educated the management team on the IBM Property Control Facility (PCF). Resolved software license issues between Lucent, IBM and vendors.

Planned and performed 'State of the Union' tour to determine AD/M organization status, analyzed results, and recommended improvements through interviews with entire management staff.

Acted as mentor and technical advisor. Provided project management expertise for Lucent development projects in the Denver and Santa Clara locations. Deployed Lotus Notes to management team. Provided education and support for new users.

Participated in Lucent Technologies engagement by performing customer site visits, due diligence, and personnel interviews. Partnered with the IBM marketing team to engage and win the account.
